Q: How do I get started with my web presentation?

A: A great presentation starts with a goal or set of goals. Oftentimes these goals turn into learning objectives. Once you have established your goals, you are ready to begin. Based on your goals, you can formulate a rough outline and a script. At this time you can utilize the CITG team to work on a storyboard and help with the development plan for the presentation.

Q: What options do I have for creating my own web presentation?

A: There are a wide variety of tools you can use in CITG's Faculty Innovation Studio. Captivate and Camtasia allow you to create a video based on the movement of the mouse on screen. This is an excellent way of showing how to do go through a number of steps in a computer program such as Excel. Breeze is a great way of providing a linear presentation with audio. CITG is here to help, whether you need to sit down to discuss the pedagogy of your project or if you have technical questions or concerns.

Q: How can I access my web presentation once it is done?

A: There are a number of options for hosting your web presentation. The most common way is to either upload it to the Faculty web server or put it directly into Blackboard as an item. In any case, CITG will be there to assist you in deciding where your presentation should reside and make sure you know where it is and how to access it.

Q: Will my presentation be accessible for people off campus?

A: Yes. Depending on the purpose of the presentation, you can have it open to anyone, open to members of the Babson community, or even open just to your class. CITG will help you determine who should have access to the presentation and assist you in placing it in the proper place for the appropriate people.

Q: Can I incorporate video in my web presentation?

A: Yes. With many of the methods for creating a web presentation(e.g. HTML, PowerPoint, Breeze, or Flash), you will have the ability to include a video with your presentation if needed. See the Media Production section for more details on video production.

Q: Can I incorporate checkpoint questions in my web presentation?

A: Yes. Assessment is very important part of a web presentation. It helps to ensure that the students are on target and focused. There are several options for including online assessment in your web presentation. See the Online Assessment section for more details.
