To get started with EDU, see this online tutorial > EDU with Blackboard.
The online assessment tool that is used at Babson
is called EDU. 'What is EDU?' you ask.EDU is Web-based application
that helps faculty evaluate and measure student knowledge of a
concept, topic, or subject. It is not just for giving online tests
and quizzes; its features actually make it a really attractive
tool for student self-paced skill mastery, which helps them prepare
for the exam or quiz (or presentation or paper, as the case may
be). This self-service mastery can include feedback for right
and wrong answers and pointers on where to go to learn more about
the material.
See the Tips and Tutorials for more information
about EDU.

Enhancing assessment opportunities through the use of technology is a natural extension of curriculum innovation, and this is exactly what we are doing here at Babson! We are using online technology to make assessing student understanding and mastery easier to manage for faculty. In addition, online assessment supports blended learning and can be a great time-saver. The following examples illustrate several ways that Babson is using online assessment:
- Pre-freshman math and pre-MBA math and accounting assessments
- Before students even arrive on campus, the program offices are able to assess whether a student needs to take a review course
- Language placement tests
- As students come to campus, they are able to take a quick online test that helps language professors place them in the appropriate class level
- Science quizzes
- Saving precious class time, students take their class quizzes outside of class via the internet
- Statistics in-class and homework
- Statistics professors are giving in-class and take-home quizzes to help students gain mastery of complex subjects
The technology that Babson uses to support online
assessment is called EDU.
